Questions

What “fully free” means.

Is every Cyphex feature free?

Yes. The plugin is GPL-licensed and distributed freely from WordPress.org. There is no paid tier, license activation, artificial quota, or required Cyphex account. Optional external providers may charge their own account.

Does it require a CDN or S3 bucket?

No. The plugin works with the normal WordPress Media Library and local image editor. External storage remains optional for advanced sites.

Will WebP and AVIF work on every host?

The interface checks the active WordPress image editor. Unsupported formats are hidden or explained, while the original image remains available.

Can I restore optimized images?

Supported file-changing workflows create an original backup first and expose recovery where that backup is available.
